It was the last few days of Christmas vacation and this mama had been too worn out from the last few months to have scheduled our vacation with memory-filled, action-packed fun. The guilt set in a bit (as it always does) and after a few days of getting a full nights sleep I was ready to tackle a day of fun. I quickly set to work securing snow gear to borrow and asking my sister if she and my niece would like to join us for an afternoon in the snow. It was last minute, it wasn’t all day long, but it was JUST. RIGHT.
It was exactly what the kids and I needed.
I learned that my daughter was braver this year, but still clings to her dislike of the snow and fear of me getting hurt when I want to sled.
I learned my usually cautious son loved sledding and loved pelting me with snowballs even more!
I learned that it’s okay to NOT plan anything during vacation and to take the rest where you can find it.
Then, when your batteries are recharged a bit you can truly enjoy the life and adventure that awaits you.
