It is August 14th and I am starting my first full week of the kids being back in school.

It’s bittersweet for sure (oh I do love all the summer fun!), but I am the type of person that thrives with some routine so I’m looking forward to getting back into a rhythm that will provide me ample time for working and family life.

Are your kids back in school yet? What are you most looking forward to with this new season upon us? What did you enjoy most about your summer?

Since no photographer’s post is truly complete without a picture, here are my kiddos and our very quick first day of school pictures. 🙂

Amador County Children
Two things I know are true…

First, time stops for no man (woman or child) and despite we mommies wanting time to stand still, our babies grow up day by day.

Second, little Mr. A is the cutest with the most incredible blue eyes and long lashes! Did I mention he is also a complete sweetheart with an infectious smile? As a new Amador County Children’s Photographer (possible post coming soon about our move to Amador County), I was excited when Kelsey contacted me to capture she and Mr. A for his 4th birthday. I was lucky enough to capture his 1 year old pictures and remember all the fun we had around historic Sutter Creek. This time for our photo session we ventured just a bit down the road to Amador City and it was the perfect location for this active and happy 4 year old’s mini-session.

After enjoying many winter storms these past few months, I’ll admit it’s been nice having a little sunshine to welcome in Spring. In years past I’ve always planned a photo session around March to commemorate my children’s upcoming April birthdays, but this year we’ve been so busy I hadn’t really thought much about a photo session. In February my daughter and I begin a new chapter together: homeschooling. While I wouldn’t recommend diving into this particular chapter while in the midst of purchasing a home and making renovations, this time we are getting together has been such a blessing. While still busy in other activities such as dance and now running club and tennis, I’m thankful for this extra time together. Blessed by the opportunity to get to know my girl better through unhurried snuggles and more frequent conversations. I’m treasuring the chance to see what she gets excited to learn and how passionate and creative she can be when inspired.

A couple of weeks or so ago when we were driving and enjoying an amazing sunset I mentioned to her that the light was so beautiful and I wanted to do a photo session of her soon. Not she and brother as we almost always did, but just her. She shrugged her shoulders in the backseat and looking out the window towards the fading light said, “Hmmm…maybe that could be fun.”

Preparing for a shoot in our new community last week I knew I wanted to go scout locations. I mentioned it to her and within about 20 minutes we were out the door with promises of just a “quick mini-shoot” and that we’d be home in another half hour for the dinner my husband was preparing.

I loved sneaking away with her last minute like this! She was pretty much up for anything and enjoyed exploring a new town she’d mostly only driven through. While we took about 15 minutes longer than promised, I loved this fun session with my girl and will forever remember the memories we captured!

The sun may have been shining, but it was joined by an icy wind that made us both shiver!  She tried hard not to let it bother her, but these next two pictures captured her “frozen” smile and her attempt to block the wind with her hat. Haha!  Love my girl!

Hello my lovely clients and friends…

Amador County Family Photographer

I’m excited to announce I’m booked up through the rest of 2016!  I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting me and my photography and look forward to seeing you in 2017.  I have a few photography friends still taking on sessions so let me know if you need a referral.

Congrats, Mindy! I’m so happy to hear that you are still shooting in your new location. And obviously, you’re shooting A LOT! 🙂 So awesome. P.S. We were at Apple Hill on Sunday, and I’m so jealous of all the colorful leaves on the 50 Corridor. Wish some of that color would make it’s way over to the 80 Corridor — although I have heard that the leaves near the Yuba River are a gorgeous yellow right now.ReplyCancel
